Befriending Reality

Saturday 25st March 2017    facilitated by Mike Turton

There is often a mismatch between ‘what is actually happening right now’ and ‘what I think is happening’ or ‘what I would like to be happening’ or ‘what I fear is happening’ etc. Accidents happen, opportunities are missed, and relationships flounder due to this discrepancy.

Similarly, there can be a mismatch between ‘the person I really am’ and ‘the person I think I am’ or ‘the person I would like to be’ or ‘the person I am expected to be’ etc. We overlook our limits, ignore our bodies, and try to be something we’re not – to name but a few of the consequences of being out of tune with our true experience.

In this workshop, we will explore this disparity in our own lives, and study the nature of our resistance to letting reality sink in. We will then consider that ‘the way things actually are’ is something solid on which we can build. Finally, we will explore the implications for the practice of therapy, when seen as a unique opportunity for befriending reality.

Cost: £70.00    Times: 10 – 5

Payment methods: by cheque, payable to Manchester Gestalt Centre, or through the website – www.mgc.org.uk using PayPal.  Refunds will only be given if for any reason we are unable to offer you a place or if the workshop is cancelled.
