Continuing Professional Development
A Gestalt Approach to Working with Children and Adolescents.
Sat/Sun July 6-7 2019 (12 hours cpd)
This ’hands on’ workshop led by experienced Gestalt psychotherapist Jon Blend caters for counsellors, psychotherapists and other professionals working with young people. It will also interest therapists working with adult clients wishing to examine their relationship with creativity/play.
The arts offer therapist and client another vehicle for exploring awareness in a dialogue; they foster embodied self-expression, aid understanding of contact styles and encourage completion of unfinished business. This course draws inspiration from the pioneering projective arts work of Gestalt child psychotherapist Dr. Violet Oaklander
(Reference: Windows to our Children; Web: www.vsof.org).
We will focus on working with clay, sand tray and music making.
Course content includes ‘live’ demonstrations, experiential work and discussion.
By the end of the course participants will:
* Appreciate the power of the arts to communicate deep feelings here and now in a relational dialogue.
* Recognize some ways of working with image and metaphor
* Have learned some skills designed to help clients begin sensory process work using an arts- based approach.
Cost: £190 (Early bird £170 payable by March 31st 2019)
Payment methods: by cheque, payable to Manchester Gestalt Centre, or through the website www.mgc.org.uk using PayPal. Refunds will only be given if for any reason we are unable to offer you a place or if the workshop is cancelled.
