Working with Dreams
Sunday 9th July 2017 – Facilitated by Joy Appleby
This one day workshop is suitable for: Those working in the Helping Professions – including trainee or qualified Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
People often report having had a dream that they don’t understand, feel is strange, disturbing, or interesting, exciting, etc, or that they can’t quite remember. Awareness of our own feelings and attitudes about dreams and being open to their significance and importance is essential in enabling us to support those we work with to explore their dreams and discover the value of their meaning and messages. We will look at different approaches to working with dreams and discuss some of the historical and cultural roots, including the views of Freud, Jung and Perls. Working experientially with dream material brought by workshop members we will use a range of creative ways to explore and discover the richness and wisdom that dreams can bring.
“We live in two worlds, the waking world with laws of science, logic and social behavior, and the elusive world of dreaming, still shrouded in mystery behind the veil of sleep. In the dream world, fantastic happenings, images and transformations are normal currency. Often such dream experiences are suffused with a depth of emotion or visionary insight that can surpass waking experience” Fontana, D. The Secret Language of Dreams, Duncan Baird Publishers
