About MGC

About Manchester Gestalt Centre

The Manchester Gestalt Centre (MGC) is a well-established hub for Gestalt psychotherapy and training in the UK. Based in Manchester, we offer therapy, supervision, accredited professional training and personal development rooted in the Gestalt tradition – relational, experiential, and grounded in embodied awareness.

Who we are

We are a collective of UKCP-registered Gestalt psychotherapists, supervisors and trainers, working together as a non-hierarchical team. Our shared ethos is based on dialogue, integrity, inclusion and lifelong learning.

Founded in 1988, MGC continues to offer a welcoming, rigorous and reflective environment for people seeking therapy, supervision or professional growth.

What we do

Psychotherapy

We offer individual, couples and group therapy for a wide range of issues including anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, low self-worth, loss and personal development. Each therapist brings decades of experience and a relational, embodied approach.

Training

Our GPTI-accredited professional training is suitable for both newcomers and those progressing towards UKCP registration.

Supervision

Experienced Gestalt supervisors at MGC offer individual and group supervision. We support practitioners at all levels, including trainees on placement and experienced therapists seeking a Gestalt-informed supervisory space.

Workshops & events

We regularly offer experiential weekends, themed CPD events and creative workshops led by MGC therapists and guest facilitators - often weaving together Gestalt, movement, nature, voice and embodied practice.

Our team

Our trainers and therapists are UKCP-registered, GPTI-accredited and bring a wide range of backgrounds – in education, health, arts, community work and academia.

We are a teaching and learning community that values difference, supports personal voice and maintains high standards of professional practice.
